Black-and-white tuxedo kitten whose expressive jealousy made him a Disney secondary mascot for the 1940s.
First appearing in Disney's 1940 Pinocchio as the pet of Geppetto and reluctant cohabitant of the goldfish Cleo, Figaro proved popular enough to be spun off into his own Mickey Mouse–universe shorts (1943–1947). Walt Disney is reported to have personally favoured him over many of the larger Disney figures, calling him "the cute one." Figaro served as Minnie Mouse's pet across decades of subsequent Disney shorts and printed material — making him one of the rare non-headlining characters from a Walt-era feature to maintain a continuous on-screen presence into the modern Disney pantheon.
