Blanca
Game 2002 · Animal Crossing (Nintendo)
Faceless white cat who appears in the player's town as a blank canvas — players must draw the face themselves.
Blanca debuted in the original Animal Crossing on the Nintendo GameCube in April 2001 (Japan) / September 2002 (North America). Her unusual gimmick: she has no face. The player is invited to draw one in the in-game scribble interface, after which Blanca carries that face wherever she travels — to other towns via memory card or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in later titles. The character returns in Wild World (DS, 2005), City Folk (Wii, 2008), New Leaf (3DS, 2012), and as an island resident in New Horizons (Switch, 2020). The face-drawing mechanic was an early example of Nintendo using player creativity as part of a character design rather than just costuming.
