Mystical Cat Names, Fantasy and Supernatural Names, Page 21

There is something irresistible about a cat whose eyes seem to hold a secret, and mystical cat names capture exactly that flicker of otherworldly magic. If you are the kind of cat owner who watches your kitten stare intently at empty corners, or who feels that her purr carries a little spellwork in it, a mystical name simply tells the truth about her. These fantasy and supernatural names wrap an ordinary tabby or a velvet-black tomcat in the soft sparkle of myth, without ever feeling costumed.

Consider Luna, from the Latin for moon, ideal for a silvery female who prowls at night. Salem honors the famous witch's cat and suits a sleek black boy with keen yellow eyes. Merlin, borrowed from Arthurian legend, fits a wise-looking grey cat with a tufted coat. Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, lends a watery grace to a long-haired queen, while Raven gives a glossy dark kitten a little gothic flair. Each mystical cat name arrives with its own small pocket of folklore.

When you try a mystical cat name, say it at candlelight and at the food bowl, since the right one works in both worlds. If this atmosphere delights you, drift into our 'fantasy' and 'mythology' name collections for more magic. Mystical cat names settle into the house like a quiet charm on the doorframe, and every time you whisper Luna or Merlin, you are reminded that sharing your home with a cat really is a little bit of everyday enchantment.
