Stimpy
Tv 1991 · The Ren & Stimpy Show (Nickelodeon)
Red-and-white "Manx" cat whose limitless cheerful incomprehension drives every episode's descent into surreal body-horror gags.
Stimpson J. Cat — Stimpy — is the optimistic, dim-witted Manx cat opposite the perpetually furious chihuahua Ren in The Ren & Stimpy Show, which premiered on Nickelodeon on 11 August 1991 as part of the original Nicktoons launch alongside Doug and Rugrats. Created by John Kricfalusi at Spümcø, the show is widely credited as the modern progenitor of adult-aimed cable animation, paving the way for South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head, and Adventure Time. Voiced for the original Nickelodeon run by Billy West, Stimpy's defining feature is his complete obliviousness to the violence Ren directs at him.
